Professor Iftikhar H. Malik, FRHisS, MA (Oxon), PhD has been a teacher for the last 32 years and has written 1.5 million words on historical and contemporary subjects. Since 9/11 he has given 458 interviews / lectures to world media, papers and public forums. His work goes on!

Professor Malik, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, teaches International History at Bath Spa University, Bath. Earlier, from 1989 to 1994, he was the Quaid-i-Azam Fellow at St. Antony’s College, Oxford. Dr. Malik has published 14 books, several monographs, 75 scholarly papers and more than 200 review articles. His areas of research are mainly U.S. history, Asian history and politics with special reference to Modern South and Southwest Asia, Muslim communities in the West, and the U.S.-Muslim world relationship. His research papers have appeared in various international journals including Modern Asian Studies, The Journal of Asian Studies, Indo-British Review, Asian Survey, Journal of South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, The Round Table, International Affairs, Asian Affairs, South Asia and Economic and Political Weekly. He has refereed manuscripts for Oxford University Press, Yale University Press, Oneworld Books, University of California Press, Pluto, Indiana University Press, Angel Books, and the UGI.

Dr. Malik has been an External Examiner for Metropolitan University, University of Bradford and the Universities at Karachi, Multan, Bahawalpur and Peshawar. He is on the editorial board of three scholarly journals based in Oxford, Coventry and Stockholm, respectively and has been a referee for Asian Survey (Berkeley), Journal of American History (Bloomington), Geographical Review and Contemporary South Asia (Oxford). The BBC, Sky, ITV, Channel 4, CNN and the Asian networks have been frequently interviewing him on several contemporary and historical issues. From September 2001 to 22 September 2005, he gave 455 interviews to numerous international radio and television channels, newspapers and public forums on the East-West & Islam-West relationship, the Muslim Diaspora, Afghanistan, the Kashmir dispute, Indo-Pakistan crisis, Iraq, Turkey, U.S. foreign policies, British politics and the EU. During 1997-2003, he led an annual seminar at the Royal College of Defence Studies, London.

During 2004, he taught am MA course on politics at the University of Brussels. He has offered seminars and papers at Cambridge, Oxford, Chatham House, King’s College, LSE, EIAS (Brussels), SOAS, IDS (Sussex), Wilton Park (Sussex), IPIS (Tehran), Heidelberg University, Institute of Ismaili Studies, Civitas (London), Royal Commonwealth Society, Columbia University, Smithsonian Institution, Jawaharlal Nehru University, the BIISS at Dhaka, GCU, Lahore, Farnham Centre for International Briefing, Beijing’s Islamic Association, Sarajevo University, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
