Semiconductor in the Process Technology Development Group as Sr.
Engineering Manager.

Professional Achievements
Dr. Rashid Bashir completed his PhD from Purdue University in 1992. From Oct 1992 to Oct 1998, he worked at National Semiconductor in the Process Technology Development Group as Sr. Engineering Manager. He is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Courtesy Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University.
He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal and conference papers and has over 25 patents. His research interests include biomedical micro-electromechanical systems, applications of semiconductor fabrication to biomedical engineering, advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques, and NANO-biotechnology.
In 2000, he received the NSF Career Award for his work in Biosensors and Bio-MEMS. He also received the JOEL and SPIRA Outstanding Teaching award from School of ECE at Purdue University, and the Technology Translation Award from the 2001 Bio-MEMS and NANO-biotechnology World Congress Meeting in Columbus, OH. He was also selected by National Academy of Engineering to attend the Frontiers in Engineering Workshop in Fall 2003.
Honors and Awards:
Rashid Bashir gained 2nd Position among 30,000+ students in Pakistan Federal Board Matriculation Examination in 1983. He got the Engineering Scholarship at Texas Tech University, January 1985 to December 1987 and was in President's List / Dean's List, from August 1984 to December 1987.
He was a "Highest Ranking Graduate in the College of Engineering" Texas Technical University, in December 1987 and has the honour of 15 Patent achievement Awards from National Semiconductor Corp. during 1993-1998. NSF Faculty Early Career Award 2000-2004.
He Gained JOEL and SPIRA “Outstanding Teacher Award” from School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, 2000. He was Invited to attend DARPA Workshop on Nanotechnology for Bio-detection/Bioassay and Delivery of Therapeutics to Individual Cells, December 12th –13th , 2000, Scottsdale, AZ. “Technology Translation Award, 2001”, Bio-MEMS and NANO-biotechnology World Congress Meeting, Columbus, OH.
He earned Student Poster Award at 2002 Bio-MEMS and NANO-biotechnology World Congress Meeting, Columbus, OH. (Graduate Student HAIBO-LI) Nominated by Purdue and Selected by National Academy of Engineering to attend the Frontiers in Engineering Workshop in Fall 2003, sponsored by NAE. Member of the United States delegation to Japan for the 2nd Japan-US (NSF/MEXT) Joint Symposium on Nanotechnology in Advanced Therapy and Diagnostics at Yokohama, Japan on October 9-12th, 2003.
